CP – Comboios de Portugal has, as of today, extended the validity of the Passe Ferroviário Verde to all urban services in Lisbon and Porto. Until now, sections with a local integrated fare system had been excluded.
Under this measure, the season ticket can be used across the operator’s entire national rail network and becomes the first season ticket in its history to be valid on all its passenger services, with the sole exception of Alfa Pendular trains.
The pass is intended for Portuguese citizens and foreign nationals resident in Portugal. It costs 20 euros for 30 days and allows travel on Regional, Inter-Regional, Lisbon and Porto Urban, and Intercidades trains.
For the latter, use is restricted to second class and requires a compulsory advance booking, with a maximum of two journeys per day. CP also sells 60- and 90-day passes for 40 and 60 euros, respectively.
The company states that the expansion is due to technological and operational updates to its ticketing, validation, monitoring and access control systems. The pass can be used in either physical or digital form.
