Spain’s Council of Ministers yesterday authorised the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to tender, through Adif, a contract to install overhead contact equipment between Teruel and Sagunto on Line 610 Zaragoza (Teruel Junction)–Sagunto. The contract has an estimated value of €51.53 million, excluding VAT.
The work covers almost 130 km and will complete the 25 kV electrification of the route from Zaragoza. The contract includes foundations and mast erection, installation of the overhead contact system and associated tensioning, sectioning and protection equipment. The planned substations at La Puebla de Valverde and Segorbe will supply traction power.
On this section, Adif is undertaking clearance enhancement works at 22 overbridges and nine tunnels, alongside the renewal of control, command and signalling systems at 15 stations.
Meanwhile, electrification work continues between Zaragoza and Teruel, together with construction of the Cariñena and Villafranca substations.
The works form part of the master plan for the 311 km route, involving total investment of more than €630 million. The contract may receive co-financing from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility.
