Swiss Federal Railways (SBB/CFF/FFS) will celebrate the 125th anniversary of its formation in 2027. On 1 January 1902, Switzerland brought its main railway companies together under a single management. The company is presenting the anniversary as a thank-you to customers, the public, authorities, partners and generations of staff.

Programme

On 28 January, two special trains (Zurich–Olten and Lausanne–Olten) will recreate the inaugural 1902 journey, with guests and media on board; members of the public can enter a prize draw for tickets. From 6 to 14 March, Zürich Hauptbahnhof will host a free light-and-sound show, which will be repeated alongside Lausanne station from 30 September to 3 October.

From 24 March to 10 October, the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne will present an exhibition on innovation, mobility and technology. On 29 and 30 May, Limmattal marshalling yard will stage a parade of historic and current trains, along with a tour of its facilities.

From 24 July to 4 September, the Bellinzona–Locarno line will host SBB Momenti, with installations and attractions that can be visited on foot, by train or by bicycle. Between February and December, Geneva and Basel stations will offer an interactive trail game.

Offers

The anniversary will include a pass offering discounted day tickets. Details of how it works, along with a special offer, will be announced in early 2027.

Company: SBB-CFF-FFS.
