Iryo unveiled the new livery on its 109-009 at Málaga-María Zambrano station, now carrying the name and imagery of Calle Marqués de Larios. The ceremony was attended by Málaga’s mayor, Francisco de la Torre, and the company’s chief executive, Fabrizio Favara.
The unit features a commemorative vinyl wrap designed to project Málaga’s identity and traditions across iryo’s network destinations. The operator regards Málaga as a strategic city and stresses its commitment to maintaining and expanding its presence in Andalusia.
The choice of 109-009 is deliberate: it was the set used by the operator to inaugurate its two Andalusian routes in March 2023.
The operator plans to add three new trains to its fleet during 2027. With these, it will raise its operational volume in Spain by 13.8%, to 22,764 annual services. In Andalusia, the Madrid–Málaga corridor will see the largest growth, with 3,514 services planned, up from 2,147 in 2026.
Madrid–Seville will also increase its offer by 39.06%, to 3,884 services. In addition, iryo will maintain the cross-country Barcelona–Málaga connection, with no need to change trains in Madrid.
