The Semaf train drivers’ union has called six days of strikes at Ouigo between October and December 2026, protesting what it describes as repeated breaches of workers’ rights. The action affects all 100 of the operator’s drivers, most of whom are union members.
The 24-hour strikes will take place on 30 October and 2 November. On 6 and 9 November and 4 and 8 December, industrial action will run from 06.00 to 12.00 and from 18.00 to 23.59.
The action could affect services to or from 15 provinces: Madrid, Barcelona, Tarragona, Valencia, Alicante, Zaragoza, Albacete, Cuenca, Valladolid, Segovia, Murcia, Seville, Málaga and Córdoba.
Semaf alleges excessive working hours, abusive shift patterns and inadequate rest periods, as well as breaches of the collective agreement covering rosters, days off and overtime. The union’s general secretary, Diego Martín, says the company is making up for organisational shortcomings at the expense of drivers’ rest and health, and warns of the impact on fatigue and work–life balance.
Ouigo says it respects the right to strike and the terms of the collective agreement signed in 2024. The operator attributes the disagreements to differing interpretations and says it is willing to continue talks to reach an agreement.
