Adif has made available to operators an Iberian-gauge rail motorway service originating at the Nonduermas terminal in Murcia. It will use line 320 (Chinchilla–Murcia del Carmen) and may continue towards Alcázar de San Juan, Badajoz, Entroncamento (Portugal), Madrid, Zaragoza and Noáin.
However, before any rail motorway services can be launched, both line 320, which is closed for works in Murcia, and line 200 (the conventional Madrid–Barcelona route), which is partially disrupted, must be reopened so that their structures can be adapted to allow semi-trailers to travel on wagons.
This is the first time that the Region of Murcia has had routes prepared for this type of traffic. Gauge measurements on the Murcia–Albacete section, requested by interested companies, confirm that the line can accommodate large semi-trailers without modifications.
The Nonduermas terminal, managed by Marítima Sureste since 2024, and the destination terminals have parking areas, manoeuvring space and loading and unloading facilities. In Madrid, Abroñigal will be available until Vicálvaro enters service, after which operators will be able to choose between the two. Towards Portugal, services may call at Badajoz or Mérida, or continue through to Entroncamento.
Adif already offers Valencia-Madrid and Madrid-Badajoz-Entroncamento services on Iberian gauge, as well as Barcelona-Le Perthus on standard gauge.
