SEMAF and Tracción Rail signed the company’s first collective agreement on 5 October 2026 at its headquarters. According to SEMAF, the deal follows several months of meetings and negotiation, and will remain in force until 31 December 2029.

On pay for driving staff, the text establishes a career path for drivers and raises basic salary. It also provides for an annual review in line with the consumer price index (CPI), and for updates to per diems and overtime rates.

On working time and leave, it sets the maximum number of annual working days, the maximum length of the daily shift and the minimum rest periods between shifts. It also establishes an annual roster of duty codes and shift patterns, mechanisms for compensating or returning excess hours worked, and rules governing annual leave, rest between duty cycles and personal days.

On social provisions, the agreement includes:

  • Redeployment to another post in the event of permanent disability arising during employment.
  • Employer top-up of pay during temporary incapacity.
  • Legal protection in cases of criminal liability.
  • Licence-loss, health and life insurance.
  • Updating of statutory paid leave entitlements.

In its statement, SEMAF thanks the workforce for its support, which enabled the union branch to be established and negotiations to begin.

Companies: Rail Traction and SEMAF.
